Have a ball with chocolate
Tickets are on sale now for the 9th annual Le Bal au Chocolat, affectionately known as the Chocolate Ball, to beheld April 18 at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education in Ocean Springs.
Tickets are $50 each, four for $150, eight for $300 or 10 for $400 and may be purchased online at TheMaryC.Org or at the Mary C office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Each year, lovers of art and chocolate come in droves to this culinary and entertainment extravaganza, sponsored by IP Casino & Resort as a benefit for the Mary C's community programs, theater performances and educational classes.
The front lawn of the Mary C is transformed into a romantic tableau of candlelight under the night sky, including a large tent and stage.
Guests will dance to the music of Caution Swing Bridge's jazz band and gourmet fare from crab cakes to jumbo shrimp to mahi mahi will be served at manned food carving stations. Bars inside the building and outside will offer wine, champagne and chocolate martinis.
The chocolate displays will be set up in the foyer of the Mary C and every year, custom-fashioned by the IP's finest confectionists and chefs and will portray this year's theme, "A Love Affair with Chocolate."
William Sackett will be master of ceremonies, as well as sing with the band and announces winners of the evening's door prizes.
Entertainment inside will feature crooner Richard Shropshir in the nearly 400-seat theater, card-playing illusionist Deryn Le and fortune teller Madame Za. A silent auction will be held in the Albert Duckett gallery; keepsake photos will be taken in the professional recording studio, the Scharr-Ello Music Room; and in the center's various classrooms, artists will give live demonstrations of woodcarving, watercolor, pottery-throwing, sculpture and more.
